With the meal plan is it possible to eat in a different part than where your dinner reservations are without the park hopper pass? I would like to be a bit more flexible but feel like the meal plan is dictating our stay.

Hi Margaret!  I know how overwhelming the whole planning can be, but let me see if I can help you with this specific question.  If you are not doing a hopper pass you actually can not dine at a restaurant that is not in the park you are visiting that day.  I know that can make it difficult to plan the week, and sometimes you are at the mercy of the open reservations rather than your plan for parks.  When you go to book your ADRs try to look at the entire week and see first if you can make the restaurants match your plans.  If there is a dining experience you are truly trying to obtain you might have to switch one of your park days.  I wish I could tell you yes to your question but unfortunately if you are doing a magic your way base ticket, you are required to stay at that park only on that day.
Thanks for the great question and for visiting us here at the Mom's Panel.
