We may be traveling to stay at the Art of Animation resort in June. With a 2 &4 yr old we may only do a couple of park days, are there activities at the hotel? Can you attend activities at the other Disney resorts and is it difficult to navigate?

    Hi Kati!

You're in for a real treat! The Art of Animation is wonderful!

There are absolutely things to do at the resort! When you check-in to the resort you'll be given a calendar of events. It will list all of the things going on during your stay. There may be pool parties, crafts, cookie decorating or more. Most of these events are free, but a few do have a small craft fee for supplies.

You are also welcome to visit the other Disney resorts. Resort hopping to visit the restaurants, shopping, beaches and events like movies on the beach are perfectly acceptable - and even encouraged. The one activity that is not allowed is swimming at the pools. The pool complexes are reserved for the guests staying at the specific hotels. Traveling to other resorts is fairly easy. Typically, you'll want to take a bus to a park or Downtown Disney and then transfer to another resort's bus.

Some of favorite non-park activities include riding the monorail and visiting the Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Contemporary. Get off at each spot and explore the grounds. Check out the different shops - even if its just for window shopping! Try a Dole Whip at Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. Grab a snack (or full meal) at the other resorts. Take your time.  Other resorts worth visiting are the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge. Ask for a calendar of events at each resort. Maybe you'll find something you'd like to go back to enjoy - like African Storytelling around a fire at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Another great non-park event is to enjoy Downtown Disney - You can easily spend a few days here as well. Shopping and dining abound, but so do fun things like bowling at Splitsville and an awesome movie theater where you can dine while you catch the latest flicks!

    Hope this helps!
