This may be a silly question, but does the park shut down for runDisney? It looks like our trip will cross paths with this event next year.

Hello, Patricia, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Walt Disney World Resort will host the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Feb. 20-23, 2020, but the events definitely won't put a damper on your Theme Park plans! runDisney races typically begin before dawn and end before the Theme Parks open for the day. The exceptions may be for the Walt Disney World Marathon in January or the tail end of any of the half marathons (which all typically end at Epcot). In those cases, some early morning Theme Park guests might get a look at some of the runners as they're finishing the race.

While you may experience some closed roads or traffic delays for pre-park opening breakfast reservations or possibly need to take a detour to access the Theme Parks with morning Extra Magic Hours that weekend, those minor inconveniences will probably be the only issues you'll notice as you try to get to the Theme Parks on the race days.

If you're staying at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel for your February 2020 vacation, you'll receive additional information about what to expect concerning possible road closures and detours as your vacation date nears. You can take a look at the information about the 2019 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend for an idea of what you might expect, but since these things are always subject to change your best bet will be to wait a little longer for the most accurate information about how the races may impact your plans.

Enjoy your vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth, Patricia! We'll see you real soon.
