We may go the route of using a Disney GCs to pay for tips for our TS meals this trip (using the DxDP this time!). I want to make sure the GCs are used for tip ONLY, afraid they'll try to charge meals to it. How can I be sure that won't happen?

Using Disney Gift Cards as a payment method is a great way to help keep yourself on budget. You are welcome to pay for tips at Disney restaurants using a Disney Gift Card.

Disney is used to dealing with diverse meal payment scenarios. When you have unique needs, the key to paying for food at WDW table service restaurants is communication with your server. I have been to Walt Disney World restaurants many times with some wacky combinations of diners. For example, at one table of ten last year, I was with: a party of three on the standard Disney Dining Plan, a solo diner on the deluxe Disney dining plan, two solo diners not on the Disney dining plan but each using separate Tables in Wonderland cards, and a party of four not any plan. And guess what? We all needed separate checks.

Our server did a wonderful time of keeping everyone's needs straight and there was not a single problem with our checks.

My advice to you is simply to tell your server exactly what you want to do, both at the beginning and at the conclusion of your meal. Your request should be no problem at all for them to handle. In the unlikely event that you do encounter an issue, simply speak to the restaurant management and they will rectify any problems.

Enjoy your stay at Walt Disney World.
