I see as of May 2018 the cruise ships are not using magic bands, but key cards instead; is this still accurate?

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Morgan!

I am excited to hEAR that you will be sailing with Captain Mickey this fall.  There is so much magic onboard, especially this time of year as the ships transform for the holidays!  A Very Merrytime Cruise is the best way to start this festive season.

It is accurate that while onboard you will use your Key to the World Card.  I also love the convenience of using a MagicBand while vacationing at Walt Disney World!  Your Key to the World Card is very comparable.  You use this card as your stateroom key, identification and to charge any purchases to your stateroom account.  It lives up to its name as your Key to the World!

If this is your first time sailing with Captain Mickey, I would recommend bringing a lanyard with a clear pocket attached to carry this card with you at all times.  It makes it easy to always take it with you while onboard.  If you are a returning guest and a member of the Castaway Club, Disney Cruise Line will have a lanyard waiting for you when you check in at the port terminal.

If you are traveling with pirates-in-training who will be spending time in the Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab, they will receive a MagicBand to check in and out of the Youth Clubs.  This special Disney Cruise Line MagicBand is available for purchase at the conclusion of your sailing if you'd like to keep it.

Enjoy making magical memories, Morgan!  Bon voyage!  Angie
