To who it may concern: I plan on going to Disney World Resort on December 26,2009 through January 3,2010. I am staying at Downtown Disney. Should I pack bathing suits for my children? And also, are the water parks open all year?

I always pack swimsuits when I go to WDW, even in the winter. While the average high temperatures in late December and early January are in the low 70s, the actual temperature you experience could be much higher than that, even well into the 80s.

I have not yet seen the water park schedule for the end of the year, however, the usual procedure is that at least one of the Disney water parks is open at all times. Typically, one of the water parks will close for several weeks for maintenance and refurbishment while the other remains open, and then they switch.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll have good swimming weather during your trip!
