Hello Michelle!
Welcome to planDisney! Many Guests were thrilled to hear about the changes to the
face covering policy at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Guests may now choose not to wear a face covering in outdoor common areas. This would include walking around the theme parks outdoors, resort sidewalks, and pool decks. With the hot summer coming, this was welcome news for many!
Currently, all Guests aged 2 and older are still required to wear a face covering in indoor areas such as stores, dining establishments when not eating, and attraction queues. The policy does not currently offer exceptions for any reason. It is difficult to predict when and how things will change in the future, so I can only really tell you what the policy is today. I would be prepared that if the policy doesn’t change before your visit, your child will be expected to wear a face covering in those specific situations.
Only you know your child best, and what is manageable for them. If you think picking their own would make it less stressful or more fun for your child, there are some cool Disney-themed masks available from
shopDisney. These same types of masks are also sold in many of the gift shops on property. You could also consider visiting after the policy has changed, though at this time I don’t know when that will be. I hope you and your child can have a magical visit, whenever you decide it is right for you.
