Moderate resort check in

I was married in October of 2022. I created my Disney resort reservation online under my new last name and have ID to match. However, my credit and debit cards do not, and new ones have not arrived. Am I able to still check in, with my old and new ID?

Congratulations on your recent wedding, Alexandra! I love happily-ever-afters, and now you get to celebrate again with a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. The fairy tale continues! I've found that there are many opportunities for romance on a Disney visit. For example, my husband and I love to have dinner at Tony's Town Square Restaurant at Magic Kingdom Park. We sit on the front porch at sunset and toast one another as we watch the crowds go by. We've even caught a parade or two, and we often share a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, just like Lady and The Tramp. I hope you can create some romantic Disney traditions in the future!

I chatted with a friendly Cast Member about your name change concerns, and he suggested bringing both photo IDs with your old and new last names. He said that most front desk Cast Members try to be understanding about these issues, and he felt like you shouldn't have any problems at the resort. And if you take advantage of Online Check-in through My Disney Experience, you can use Direct-to-Room Service and completely bypass the front desk.

When I mentioned your credit card use at other retail shops or restaurants, he said that would be up to each venue. I am currently visiting Walt Disney World Resort, and I don't think I've been asked for my ID when I use my credit card. I'd suggest keeping both photo IDs with you, and possibly a copy of your marriage license. I hope you won't need them, but it couldn't hurt to have them handy.

I also love Mobile Ordering in the My Disney Experience Mobile App. I've used it to purchase merchandise at World of Disney at Disney Springs, and I've used it at countless Quick Service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World. When I use Mobile Ordering, I have the option to pay with Apple Pay, any credit card, or a Disney Gift Card. You'll receive a code in the app, and that is what you show to pick up your order.

Alexandra, I hope I've given you some options for your upcoming trip with your brand-new name! I just know you're going to have a magical time. Please stop back by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
