Hi Margaret, just read a response from you regarding ME. You sugguested taking a carry-on with things you might need immediately upon arrival while waiting for your luggage to come. What kinds of things would you recommend? Going late Jan. w/DH&DD's 8,

    Hi Victoria,

I do think it is a great idea to have a carry-on bag with any "necessities" since your bags will not arrive until approximately three hours after your airport arrival.

My bag of tricks changes slightly depending on the season, but the first thing I always pack is our bathing suits. This allows us to take a relaxing dip in the pool if we want without having to wait for our luggage. If we are arriving during the winter months, I also pack a pair of shorts for each of us, as we are arriving from the cold Midwest and may need to shed our winter layers for the Florida warmth.

My kids like their Disney collections and each have a pressed penny book as well as a pin lanyard. I make sure that I pack those in my carry bag, as well as copies of any guide books, schedules, reservation numbers or anything else we need to put our schedule into motion. I also pack a small first aid kit with antiseptic wipes, bandaids, Tylenol, hand sanitizer, chapstick, sunscreen and baby wipes. My bag also includes my camera, extra memory cards or batteries, and cell phone charger, The last thing I usually throw in is a deck of Uno cards and playing cards and some snacks. You will never guess how often these granola bars and hands of Uno have helped pass the time as we wait for a bus, lunch, or our resort room.

Depending on your children's ages, you may need to pack diapers, an additional change of clothes, bottles, and baby food. Anything that you think you may need to get you through your first few hours until your bags arrive at your room. Hope this helps.

    Happy planning!
