Hi Margaret! I also grew up in O.L. I read in one of your recent replies that you'd just been FW Cabins. My DD8 & DH are leaving 3 wks from today for the cabins. Can you tell me about the newly refurbished pool?

    Hi Nancy,

Wow, it really is a small world. DO you make it back this way much?

The three of you will love Fort WIlderness and the cabins. The cabins are so comfortable and there is so much to do at the campgrounds. I have to admit, I tag-teamed a little on this answer as portions of the pool area were not open at our last visit, so I called one of my fellow Mom Panelist who is at the Fort right now. Here is our report:

The pool is quite large and on average is about four feet deep. The main pool area features one slide that does twist a little before dumping you in the water, but most kids should not find it to scary. The shape of the pool would be great for swimming laps, if it was not crowded. There is a large, square kiddie pool area with no slides and one small spa. A separate interactive splash zone and playground area were just being finished and this will certainly prove to be the hot hangout spot for all kids. It features a zero entry area with two small water slides, steering water wheels, water sprays and more.

Located near the pool area is an arcade (where you usually can find my boys) and a great covered picnic pavilion at one end for lunch time hunger pains. By the way the pulled pork and coleslaw come highly recommended. Be sure to bring your beach towels as they do not supply them at the pool, and plenty of sunscreen of course.

    Have a great time!
