Hi Margaret, My family will be there too Dec. 12-18th wanted to know your thoughts for using EMH this time of year. I see generally it is not recomended but unsure how crowded this time of year will be if it might be worth it then. Thank you.

    Hi Jessica,

How cool, I think we are both hoping for low crowds and great weather.

Extra Magic Hours (EMH) is a great bonus for Disney resort guest and typically we have very good luck using this extra time. If you are planning at arriving at the EMH park of the day at the very start, I think it is a great time to get a number of your favorite attractions crossed off the list before the crowds increase. We are not a great early morning family, so we only take advantage of the morning EMH a few times a trip, however we always plan to head out of the EMH park no later than 11am on that day. We have noticed by that time, the crowds have certainly increased and the park stays considerably busier throughout the day. This strategy gives us the advantage of enjoying a few attractions and then moving on to another less crowded park.

Evening Extra Magic Hours are more my family's strength, and I will admit I go against most of my friends thoughts on this practice. We almost always take advantage of evening EMH. Now the crowds are often a little higher in the first hour or so after the park closes for it's normal operating hours. During that first hour we often hit a few of the less popular attractions, do some shopping or enjoy a late dinner. It seems a number of resort guests linger for a little while to enjoy one last thing, but then tire and head out. IF you are up for the late night challenge and willing to hang in there until the end, we have great luck with low crowds and short lines. There have been many evening EMH nights that we often feel like we are the only ones in the park. Even if we have hit all of our favorites, we always linger as it is magical to be one of the last ones out the gate and say goodnight to Cinderella Castle or Spaceship Earth.

Hope this helps! Wishing you a magical time!
