Is Mardi Gras week a busy time to come (specifically March 6-12 this year)? Kids are out of school so I was thinking it could be a good low-crowd time to visit since only some of the US is out for that holiday. Thank you!

I'm sorry to tell you that March is a fairly busy time at Walt Disney World. While only some public schools have that time period off, there are also many college spring breaks to contend with.

The only truly low-crowd times are the second half of January, September, November until Thanksgiving, and the first two weeks of December.

There is a wonderful resource at the website Touringplans.com called the Crowd Calendar. This is produced by the same group that writes the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World book. They employ statisticians to analyze crowd travel patterns, the vacation schedules at major school districts, and other factors, to come up with an amazing analysis of crowd levels at Walt Disney World for every day of the year. There is a small fee for this service (about $10), but if you want to really pinpoint the best travel days for your family, then it is well worth it.

Good luck with your planning and have a wonderful vacation.
