We are making our 1st trip to Disneyworld with our 5 yr old, we are trying to decide between the Contemporary Resort or Dolphin and Swan resort. Which would you recommened for the hotel activities that a kid would enjoy the most.

Hi Tammy! How exciting to be planning your family's first Disney World vacation! While the Swan and Dolphin have a convenient location and offer deluxe rooms at often value prices, they don't, in my opinion, compare to the Contemporary. Although the Swan and Dolphin are on Disney property, they are not Disney-owned hotels, and in my experience, they lack the Disney feel. The Contemporary has sleek modern rooms and a prime location next to the Magic Kingdom. Your son would love watching the monorail whiz through the middle of the hotel! Many rooms have views of the Magic Kingdom and its nightly fireworks show, and you can also view the Electrical Water Pageant from the Contemporary. The hotel often has fun activities in the evening like outdoor movies, and of course it's home to Chef Mickey's, where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner with Mickey Mouse and friends. In addition to the pools, there's also a beach and options for fishing and boating. I think you and your son would have a ball at the Contemporary!
