I am making reservations for my family that are in my friends and family group. If I make a reservation for two of my family members, do I have to be in the party? I made a reservation for two for my daughter and her husband, but I’m listed on the party

Hiya, Christy, and welcome to planDisney! You're visiting Walt Disney World Resort next month, so I hope you've started gathering your Mickey ears. I keep a backpack full of theme park essentials like mobile chargers and ponchos, so I'm ready to head to the magic anytime. Booking dining is one of my favorite parts of planning a trip, so let's look at how you can help your family secure some reservations.

The guest who makes a dining reservation while signed into their My Disney Experience account will automatically be added to the reservation. So, technically, you can't make a reservation for other guests. You can add them if they're linked to your Family & Friends, but you will be one of the guests. But I have some ideas for how you can help your group!

It sounds like you'll all be visiting together, so you could meet them at the restaurant to check in and explain to the hostess that you won't be joining the other two. I've found Cast Members are usually accommodating, so I'm crossing my fingers and sprinkling pixie dust that they'll be able to dine.

I've never had a Cast Member ask for an ID when I check in for a dining experience, but they do ask to see an ID for Enchanting Extras like tours. Sending your daughter and son on their own might present an issue, so I hope you can book a new reservation or accompany them. I want your visit to be as magical as it can be!

Another option is to see if you can use your daughter's login and make a new reservation under her account. That will ensure that only she and her husband will be listed. Or she can make a new reservation herself. My tip is to keep that original reservation with your name until you get a new one.

If you're looking for a spot to dine, one of my favorites is a hidden gem that might have availability. Tony's Town Square Restaurant near the Magic Kingdom Park entrance is a sentimental favorite for my family. We always ask to be seated on the porch where we can watch people, parades, and even the flag-lowering ceremony if we time it right. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!

Christy, I hope your upcoming visit is full of food, fun, and family! Please feel free to stop by planDisney with any additional questions. We'd love to help!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
