Hey there, hi there, Lori! Welcome to "Loser"ville, and congratulations on taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle.
I had my gastric bypass surgery many years ago, when it was still kind of a new thing, and the rules concerning meals and weight loss surgery have shifted since then at
Walt Disney World. You can - and should - absolutely let them know at any
dining experience you want to try that you have
special dietary needs. It can be noted when you
make dining reservations, or you can speak with someone at the counter service locations about what you can eat and how they can help you adapt meals. A kid's meal is always an option at counter service locations.
Now, when it comes to buffet meals, all you care to eat meals served family-style, or prix fixe meals, in general, there isn't an accommodation in terms of pricing. In most of those dining locations, they won't allow you to pay for a kid's meal, even though you probably eat less than some kids at that point in your weight loss journey. But I do encourage you to speak with someone from the culinary team when you arrive at the restaurant, especially if there are things you really just cannot eat. I know, even all these years later, I still sometimes have issues with pasta and chicken. I've had a chef prepare me a pasta dish without the pasta when I saw that the sauce was protein-packed and perfect for a meal. They will work with you as much as they can.
I hope your recovery goes smoothly, and my fingers are crossed for a practically perfect vacation!
Anna
