I have Magic Your Way Tickets for my upcoming trip but would like to upgrade to the Disney Dining Plan when I get there. I called Disney directly and they wouldn't let me do it before I got there. Can I really do it when I get there?

According to the many cast members at WDW that I've spoken to, the Disney Dining Plan MUST be added to you package at least two days prior to your arrival at WDW. You can NOT add the Dining Plan while you are at WDW.

Without knowing the specifics of your booking, I can't offer much rationale for why the reservationist would not allow you to add the Dining Plan. There are many guests for whom the Dining Plan is not an option. This includes guests staying at off-site resorts, guests staying at some resorts on property but not owned by Disney, guests booking through certain outside agencies, guests booking at certain discounted rates, guests purchasing their tickets and room separately. You might want to try calling Disney again at 407-W-DISNEY to ask them why they can't add the Dining Plan for you.

Otherwise you should know that even if you are not on the Dining Plan, you are still welcome to make reservations for and dine at any WDW restaurant, you'll just have to pay for your meal with money (cash, credit card, etc.) rather than with Dining Plan credits.
