Hi, How can I get to the Magic Kingdom for an 8 am tour if the buses will not start running until 8am? The park opens at 9am. We can Lyft there, but were should we get dropped off?

    Hi Julie,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks so much for bringing me your great question! How fun that you have a tour scheduled at Magic Kingdom park! That will be the perfect way to bring the magic to life in a whole new way, and I'm sure you'll make memories you'll cherish for years to come.

In my personal experience, buses are often running even earlier than one hour prior to theme park opening, so it's definitely possible that you'll be able to take a bus. When you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel, I'd recommend checking with a Cast Member at the front desk to see what time they anticipate buses beginning to run that day. If buses won't work, or you'd rather arrange your own transportation, you may certainly take a Lyft there! Lyft drivers will drop you off at the Transportation & Ticket Center, then you may catch a ride on the iconic monorail over to Magic Kingdom park. I've heard some folks suggest asking the Lyft driver to take you to Disney's Contemporary Resort instead, where it's possible to walk to Magic Kingdom park, but it's possible that the Cast Members at the gate there may not allow ride-sharers to be dropped off there without dining or Resort hotel reservations. For the quickest and most direct transportation, I'd recommend the Minnie Van Service. You'll use the Lyft app to arrange one of these adorable vehicles, too, but because they're driven by Disney Cast Members, they have the privilege of dropping you off at the same place buses take you - right near the entrance to Magic Kingdom park.

I'm not sure exactly which tour you're taking, but do know that most tours want you to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time, so you'll want to make sure that you build in plenty of travel time, as well as time to go through security and ticketing. Just think how much fun you're going to have once you're there and your tour begins, though! So exciting!

If we can help with anything else as you're planning your visit, Julie, please feel free to come see us again. We're always here and happy to help. I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
