Hello, and welcome to planDisney, Shelby! There's no better way to start the New Year than by planning a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
More than 20,000 princesses descend upon Walt Disney World Resort, ready to trade their glass slippers for running shoes each February. I've participated several times myself! While running through Cinderella Castle is a dream come true for many runners, it can cause a headache for non-race participants trying to head to the Parks for rope drop, especially Magic Kingdom Park. World Drive, approaching the Magic Kingdom parking plaza, will be closed on February 27 from 4:00 am to 9:00 am. Luckily, the Bus Drivers (usually) know the alternate routes well!
In all likelihood, the buses will be rerouted to Walt Disney World's Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), where you'll take the Monorail to your magical destination. Since
Magic Kingdom Park will open at 9:00 am that day, you'll be able to use
Early Theme Park Entry as a Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guest at 8:30 am. I strongly recommend being at the bus stop at your resort by 7:00 am. You can also ask the Cast Members at the front desk of
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort for advice when you check-in since they will have the most up-to-date information on transportation for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.
I'm excited for you to see Cinderella Castle in all her splendor for the Walt Disney World Resort 50th Anniversary celebration, Shelby! Make sure to catch
Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade featuring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and Chip 'n' Dale in their new EARidescent outfits! Also, check out the
Celebration Sips and Bites Guide for snacking ideas. My favorite is the Uncle Orville Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Sundae found at
Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies!
I hope you have a magical vacation, Shelby! Please come back and visit again if you have any other questions.
Take care,
Eean
