We are magic key holders and have reservations for next week to Disneyland. Can we purchased the lightning lane multi pass for that day a week in advance?

Hi Shermeena! Welcome to planDisney. As a fellow Magic Key Holder and Lightning Lane aficionado, I’m thrilled to help you plan an unforgettable day at The Happiest Place on Earth!

As you may know, there are two ways to access Lightning Lanes at the Disneyland Resort. The first option is the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which allows you to schedule return times for select attractions in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. You can purchase it in advance when buying your theme park tickets, as a separate add-on later, or on the day of your visit via the Disneyland app. However, as a Magic Key Holder, you can only purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass on the day of your visit, directly through the app. So keep that in mind before you set off on your adventure down Main Street!

The second option is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This pass grants each Guest who purchases it one-time access to every available Lightning Lane attraction, including both Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions, with the flexibility to ride whenever you'd like. No need to schedule return windows! The Premier Pass is available in limited quantities and can be purchased by all Guests, including Magic Key Holders, up to seven days before your visit. Just like with Multi Pass, be sure your entire party’s tickets and park reservations are linked to your MyDisney account so you can purchase Premier Passes for everyone eligible. With this pass, you could hop from Indiana Jones Adventure to Rise of the Resistance without missing a beat!

If you decide to go with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Shermeena, I’ve got a Q-Tip for you! You can actually hold more than one Lightning Lane reservation at a time. Once you book a return time, you can grab a second one after either 120 minutes have passed or you’ve scanned into your first attraction, whichever comes first. For example, if you snag a Matterhorn Bobsleds reservation at 9:00 a.m. for 4:00 p.m., you can still book the Haunted Mansion at 11:00 a.m. without losing your Matterhorn spot. To stay on top of my reservations, I like to set alarms on my phone or smartwatch to remind me when it’s time to book my next one, because nothing should stand in the way of a high-speed dash through the icy caverns of the Matterhorn or a mischievous visit to the 999 happy haunts!

No matter which Lightning Lane option works best for you, Shermeena, I know you’ll have a magical Disneyland adventure. Whether you’re soaring over London with Peter Pan, or taking a whirl through the wildest ride in the wilderness, there’s so much excitement in store! If you have any other questions while planning your visit, please stop by planDisney again. We’re always happy to help!

Wishing you a pixie-dusted day filled with churros, fireworks, and endless magic!
