I have magic bands from a previous visit and a new one for my granddaughter. How do I know that they have been linked properly and that they will work?

    Hiya Denise!

Welcome to planDisney! I’m delighted you stopped by with a question for us!

I love all the technology that’s crammed into MagicBands. From unlocking your Disney Resorts Collection room door, charging back to your hotel room with a simple tap, to entering the theme parks (with valid theme park tickets and your Disney Park Pass reservations linked to it), your MagicBands really help make your Walt Disney World Resort vacation feel convenient and easy. Whether you choose one with your favorite character, movie, color, or even your favorite Disney Resorts Collection hotel, they make the perfect accessory!

Denise, I love that you and your grand-Mouseketeer will be experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World Resort together! If you’ve used your MagicBand previously, it should still be linked.

To check if your MagicBands have been properly linked, head on over to your My Disney Experience account and log in. Next, hover over the My Disney Experience logo on the top right-hand corner of the screen and select “My MagicBands & Cards.” From here, it will show you if you have any orders you can place for a future vacation, and if you scroll down a bit, you’ll see “Manage MagicBands or Cards.” You will find your name here and can check to see if the MagicBand you’ve previously used is there. If you look on the back of the puck of your MagicBand, you’ll see a 12-digit code that should match the one showing up on your screen.

If you manage your granddaughter’s plans, you should be able to see her name in there, as well. If someone else manages her plans, you can have them follow these steps to see if her new MagicBand is linked. If it isn’t yet linked, you’re going to want to scroll down a bit more until you see “Link a MagicBand” and select “Link.” It will give you options to link Resort reservations, tickets, and you will want to choose "MagicBand" from the list. Follow the steps to enter the code on the back of your granddaughter’s MagicBand, and you should be all set after you’ve confirmed!

Before I let you go, I wanted to remind you to be sure you've made both of your Disney Park Pass reservations. These are now required, along with tickets, to enter the theme parks.

We can’t wait to welcome you and your grand-Mouseketeer to the magic, Denise! Have an enchanting time!
