Hi Patricia! It is so great to be able to talk to you again here at planDisney!
Like Cinderella, I get some of my best information from some little bridies, and they have told me that the battery in a
MagicBand generally lasts about 2-3 years, so yours is probably no longer charged. What they also said; however, is that the battery is only used for things like photo capturing, and not for things like park entry or to use as your room key. So those features should still work.
Patricia, while your old MagicBand may be functional for some things, if you want to take full advantage of all of the MagicBand features, I would recommend that you purchase a new one for your upcoming trip. Some rides, like
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and
Haunted Mansion, use RFID technology to send your ride photos directly to your My Disney Experience Account, something that a band from 2013 will not do.
To see what MagicBands are linked to your account, log into your
My Disney Experience Account and click on "My MagicBands & Cards." When you scroll down, you should see your name, as well as the names of any people that you have previously traveled with. Now click on the arrow to the left of your name and you should be able to see all the MagicBands and Admission Cards tied to your account.
Patricia, once you book your Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation, you will see something pop up on this page that says "MagicBand Order." You will also see a blue button that says "Get Started." This is where you will be able to purchase new MagicBands for your upcoming stay at an exclusive discounted rate!
I hope that this helped, Patricia. Please come back here if we can help you plan your stay in the magic.
We love to hEAR from you!
Sarah B.
