Will magic band charge if powered down?

    Hi there, Susan!

Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing your question to us! Which MagicBand+ did you happen to purchase? When the Disney Parks Blog announced that Disneyland Resort would begin supporting the MagicBand+, I knew that I wanted to try one! Although we don't have all the features that our Walt Disney World friends have, they are adding interactions here and there.

In order to test your question, I visited the MagicBand+ Support page to learn that, in order to power off the device, I needed to press the button on the back of the MagicBand+ for about six seconds until I felt it vibrate twice. I connected it to my charger and saw that it did indeed charge while it was powered down.

Have you been enjoying all the interactive features of your MagicBand+? I especially love the haptic feedback during the queue of WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and when you exit Haunted Mansion. It can also add a little something during the nighttime spectaculars as well. But the most immersive experience has to be using the MagicBand+ to locate your targets in Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters! With a fully charged MagicBand+ and phone, I can spend a few hours playing around in Galaxy's Edge!

I hope that you found this response helpful, Susan, and that you are enjoying your visits to the Disneyland Resort using your MagicBand+! If you have any further questions for us at planDisney, please do not hesitate to come back again anytime!

    We'll see ya real soon!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
