Hey there, Randa!
I plan vacations for myself and my in-laws, always with two
resort hotel rooms, so I am more than happy to help walk you through this process.
First, I want to let you know that you did the right thing. For each reservation to work the way that it is supposed to, you want to make the reservation with the names of the people physically staying in the room.
Just because your father-in-law's name is on the room, does NOT mean that you can not link it to your
My Disney Experience account. In fact, I find that it is easiest for our family if I link both rooms to my account. That way, I can handle all of the planning while my in-laws just enjoy their vacation.
Randa, if you have your reservation number, you simply need to
link it to your account using the last name of the primary reservation holder, which I assume is your father-in-law.
You can link your second reservation through your
My Disney Experience Mobile App by clicking the three lines on the bottom right of the app, and selecting "Link to Account." If you are trying to link your second room to your account online, log into your My Disney Experience account and go to "My Plans." Once you click on "My Plans," you will want to hover your mouse over the hotel icon, and click on "Link a Reservation."
If your father-in-law has a separate My Disney Experience account, and the resort reservation has already linked up to his account, then you will want to be sure that you are connected to your father-in-law through your
Family & Friends List. Once you connect, you will still be able to do all of the planning for him through your account.
I hope that this answered your question, Randa! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions to help make your vacation practically perfect in every way!
See you real soon!
