Ahoy, Linda!
I'm so glad you've asked another question about your grand vacation with Disney Cruise Line next August. And I know you can't wait to SEA both the
Disney Dream and
Disney Fantasy when you arrive at
Port Canaveral. It will be fun for your crew to spot the differences in these sister ships since your sailings are so close!
Linda, I know of four hotels in the Cape Canaveral area that are around a mile or closer to the cruise terminal- Radisson Resort at the Port, Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and Residence Inn Cape Canaveral. It's an easy area to navigate, so my advice is to check their accommodations and rates to see which one works best for your family. Some may even offer shuttles to and from the port if you do not want to rent a car. But, there are three rental car agencies about a 1/2 mile from the cruise terminal that all offer a shuttle to the pick- up/drop off area-Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National, and Alamo.
If you want to check out some sights, I recommend Kennedy Space Center, the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse, the Exploration Tower, or the U.S. Air Force Space & Missile Museum. Another fun idea is to stop by the Ron Jon Surf Shop since it's the world's largest surf shop and open 24 hours a day! Cocoa Beach is close by if you want to spend the day in the sun. My family likes to visit Jetty Park to watch the cruise ships sail by and wave "bon voyage" to the Guests onboard. There's a beach, pier, and place to grab a bite to eat so you can spend several hours enjoying this area. Last time we visited, there was a fee to park. As you check out hotels, you can also see what amenities they offer because you may want to relax between your two cruises.
I hope my answer is helpful, Linda. This vacation will be packed with pixie dust, so I know you can't wait for it to begin. Please let us know what other questions you may have about your
Bahamian and
Caribbean sailings with Mickey.
Have a MAGICAL day!
Nancy
