Do the "made with magic" ears work with any of the new Walt Disney World shows?

    Hiya, Joe.

I'm so glad you followed the Lost Boys to Neverland and found your way here to planDisney! I see your Walt Disney World Resort vacation countdown has dropped below the two-month mark. I bet you can't wait to be immersed in the fun and excitement of The World's Most Magical Celebration and the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival!

Don't you just love the theme parks at night? I've always felt like there's an extra dose of pixie dust in the air after the sun sets. There's something about the glistening lights throughout the parks and the fireworks and music of the nighttime spectaculars set against a star-studded sky that makes everything feel more magical. I loved that the Made with Magic items allowed Guests to literally become a part of the nighttime shows by lighting up in sync with the music and lights. Sadly, most of the nighttime spectaculars they paired with have been retired, and the Made with Magic items have been discontinued. I wish I could say the Made with Magic Mickey ears and other items will work with the new nighttime shows, but Guest Services informed me they do not at this time.

Joe, I know you were likely hoping the Made with Magic Mickey ears could still be a part of your world, but turn that frown upside down! The next generation of MagicBands, MagicBand+, is set to launch sometime this year. One of the features of the MagicBand+ is that it will light up and interact with the nighttime spectaculars, like Harmonious at EPCOT and Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom Park, just like the Made with Magic items used to do. Isn't that exciting? No dates have been announced yet as to when we can expect the launch of MagicBand+, but I am hoping it's in time for your trip. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney World Resort website, as they will likely be the first to share updates.

Since we are on the topic of nighttime shows, be sure to check out the Beacons of Magic at each theme park on your trip. This 50th Anniversary Celebration offering brings Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, the Tree of Life, and the Hollywood Tower Hotel to life each night with dazzling illumination. They're sure to take your breath away!

Please visit planDisney again soon with any new questions you have for your upcoming vacation. We're all EARs and happy to help!
