Hello, LUV the panel! Booked trip 4/26-5/03 2010 (THX ERIN 4 help). Arriving from CA. w/ DH, me,DD8,DD5,DS 2.5. Any suggestions for helping us cope w/ the time difference (3 hrs). Has anyone experienced this when planning? Staying at Beach Club Resort

Hi, Yvette!  My family and I dealt with "jet lag" all summer long!  We did a cross country road trip, and there were days where we woke up on east coast time, stopped for dinner on central time, but woke up the next morning on mountain time.  It's tough to get that internal clock to work with you sometimes, but there are some things you can do to help.

One thing that has worked for me in the past is to start adjusting to the different time zone in advance.  If you normally wake up at seven in the morning, start setting your alarm to wake you an hour, two hours, and then the day or two before, three hours early.  It's easier for your body to adjust an hour at a time than to have to adjust to three hours all at once!

Where the children are concerned, start putting them to bed earlier in the evening so they will begin waking up earlier, thereby adjusting to the new time zone.  Once you get to Walt Disney World, put them immediately on the new time zone - if they go to bed at nine in California, put them to bed at nine in Florida.  Stick to your normal meal times as well - don't wait until nine at night to eat dinner in Florida if you usually eat at six at home; go ahead and eat at six.

Sunshine helps as well!  For some reason, when I get outside and spend some time in the sun, I notice I have a much easier time adapting to the new time zones.

Enjoy your vacation, and I hope your jet lag is minimal!
