We have lunch res at Hollywood & Vine for our DD 6th bday. Don't know that I want to spend $21 on an unpersonalized cake.Wondering what the buffet has to offer for desserts and whether or not we could top it with a candle?Bday isn't complete w/o a wish

    Hi Lisa,

I celebrated my twins' 6th birthday at Walt Disney World. We did order them a cake with our buffet dinner at Chef Mickey's. They blew out the candles and then went immediately to the ice cream sundae bar, leaving nearly the entire cake uneaten. So, in my opinion, the cake with dinner is somewhat overkill.

Hollywood & Vine has a rotating selection of desserts, so it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what will be there during your visit. You will typically find things like small brownies, chocolate chip cookies, mini pies, ice cream, and plenty of other sweet nibbles. You would be welcome to put a candle in any one of these. Also, while not guaranteed, guests who are celebrating birthdays are often given a special cupcake by the restaurant in addition to everything else.

If you're looking for some alternative ways to celebrate, you may want to head over to the independent website blog.touringplans.com. Search there for an article called, "Trip Planning 101: Celebrating at Walt Disney World." You may find some good non-cake ways to make your daughter's birthday extra special.

    Enjoy!
