Hi! I love your site--can't wait to use all of the ideas on our trip in May! My boys heard that you can make your own "Light Sabers" in Downtown Disney. Can you tell me which store has this?

OK, I'll admit it, I'm a secret Star Wars geek. Back in 1977 (can you imagine) I was so obsessed that I spent all my allowance money seeing the original film in the theater, thirteen weeks in a row. I almost bought myself a light saber the last time I was in Downtown Disney. My houseful of girls talked me out of it. I should not have been swayed by their dark force.

The Make Your Own Light Saber station is at the Once Upon a Toy store in the Marketplace area of Downtown Disney. Prices do change, but when I was there a few months ago, they cost about $20. Children (or their parents) can choose a flashlight-esque base and then augment it with various colored lenses and "blade" pieces. The assembly part can be a bit confusing, so if you don't get it right away, just ask a nearby cast member to assist you.

And now I'm walking around the house doing my Chewbacca imitation and my oldest daughter is rolling her eyes at me and begging me to stop. But, I think she deserves for me to torture her like this for talking me out of getting my own saber, don't you? ;-)
