hi love the panel, i just had surgery on my spine and will be limitied in mobility .I called and asked about getting a room with handi acess . i was told by dis. emp. that this is a special request and may not be fulfilled unless i pay the higher price ?

Hi, Laurie!  I can't speak directly to what the cast member that you spoke with said, but I can tell you that there is no price difference for a wheelchair or accessible room.  If you are booking a standard room, the rate for the standard room is the same with or without handicap fittings.

It's possible you were quoted a higher price because there were no standard rooms available that had accessibility fittings.  You may also have requested a room at a resort that had no accessible rooms available during the time you wanted to stay.

I will tell you that requesting an accessible room does not guarantee an accessible room, however, in the twenty years that I traveled with my father, who was in a wheelchair after losing his legs, we never had any difficulty in obtaining an accessible room.  With this type of request, they make every effort to accommodate you.

If you want to try to contact reservations again, I'd find out if the resort you want is just booked for accessible rooms or if possibly there aren't rooms at the lower price available - only ones with a different view than a standard room.  There might just be some confusion with regard to wording.  Or if you want to send me some more information, I'll do my best to figure out the problem for you!
