    Love the panel - read it every morning! I keep hearing about how some of the resorts have zero entry pools which is great for small children. However, I don't know what zero entry pools are - can you explain?

    A zero entry pool is one that has no edge on one side. Picture the ocean that gradually goes from the shore to the water, getting progressively deeper the further you go out. It's the same thing with a zero entry pool. There is no defined "side of the pool" that you have to step over to get into the water; the pavement gradually turns into water and the water gets deeper the further you venture into the pool.

    Zero entry pools are a great asset for some physically challenged people who may have trouble with stepping down into the water, or for those who have a water-safe wheelchair and can be rolled directly into the pool.

    Many people also feel that zero entry pools are great for toddlers. It is true that the pool gives a beachy feel and that a small child can sit at the edge of pool in just a few inches of water and play. However, I have to say that zero entry pools always made me nervous when my children were very small. Young (and older) children should always be fully supervised in any water-related situation. However, I found supervising kids near a zero-entry pool more challenging because there is no real definition of when you're in the pool and when you're not. My kids were more likely to wander into a zero-entry pool than one with a defined edge. Again, children must ALWAYS be watched near water. Many people prefer to do this in a zero-entry situation, but I don't happen to be one of them.
