Hi, love this panel! - read it daily! Trip planned 5/2-5/7/10; staying at AK. DH, DS 5 1/2 and DD 4. DS LOVES animals, esp zebras. Can I make a request for room location? If so, any suggestions for zebra viewing? And how would I do it? Tnx for advice

    HI Deanna!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful and has so many exotic animals! Your children are going to be thrilled to see them all!

If you're interested in viewing the animals from your room balcony, be sure to book a "savanna view" room category. With this category you are guaranteed to have a great view of the wildlife and savanna areas. Our family is fond of the rooms which view the Arusha savanna, but honestly all are great! If you'd like to put a room request in, be sure to call Disney reservations at  407-939-7675 (or your travel agent if you've used one) as soon as possible. They can put a note on your reservation which includes the details of your request. While room requests are never guaranteed, we've always had great luck.

If you've booked a standard view room, you'll be able to check out the animal viewing areas that are found throughout the lodge. There are a few areas right off of the main lobby that have good views and rocking chairs. For even better views, take a stroll out the left corridor (as you stand in the lobby facing the large windows). There are a number of viewing areas found here. Some even have small patios with rocking chairs where you can really sit and enjoy the view.

Be sure to check out the activity calendar you'll receive when you check into the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It will give you a listing of great (and often free!) activities for kids. Our favorites are the African storytelling by the firepit and viewing the animals with night vision goggles.

    Enjoy your trip!
