    LOVE the panel!! I never knew I could have so many questions. I have res. for AK in Sept. 08, I am considering changing to FW. I REALLY NEED HELP making my mind up.Traveling with DH and DD5. I am just reading that there seems to be more to do at FW. HELP:)

    The Animal Kingdom Lodge and Fort Wilderness are entirely different experiences. The AKL is a deluxe resort with grand facilities, a magnificent pool, spacious rooms, and great restaurants -- not to mention that you can step outside your room and watch giraffes grazing nearby through night vision goggles. How cool is that!

    On the other hand, Fort Wilderness is a campground. The cabins there are lovely, but the overall atmosphere is much more rustic. It all depends on what type of experience you're looking for.

    While it true that there is lots to do at Fort Wilderness: carriage rides and the Chip & Dale sing along, for example (which non-FW guests can participate in by the way). There is also tons to do all over Disney World. If you're going to be out at the fireworks every night, it's not going to matter so much what's happening at your hotel as long as the room is comfortable. And if you looking for a cozy "night in," many of the hotels have special resort-specific activities such as movies by the beach or afternoon games and crafts for kids.

    I personally would stay at the AKL, but I know that there are others who would argue vehemently the other way. My guess is that whichever you choose, you'll be so busy touring WDW that you'll barely notice where you're staying.
