Hi Laurie! I'm so glad you enjoy reading the Moms Panel -- we love helping
you plan your Disney vacations!
A non-park day is great idea -- there is so much to do outside of the parks
at Disney World, and you'll have lots of time to explore the Caribbean Beach
Resort. Downtown Disney is a great destination for fun outside of the parks.
Stroll through the shops or take in a movie. Visit the indoor virtual theme park
at DisneyQuest, ride Characters in Flight, or take the kids to Ridemakerz, the
Lego Store, or the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
One of my family's favorite restaurants outside of the theme parks is the
Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney. We love the sushi, salads, and pizzas
from the wood-fired ovens. Another option that your children may really enjoy
is the
T-REX Cafe, which has life-size prehistoric animatronic creatures.
If you're looking for a more upscale dining experience, the food at
Jiko at the Animal
Kingdom Lodge is delicious, and you can walk out on the African savanna after
your meal to view the giraffes and other animals with night-vision
goggles. (A more casual but equally tasty dining option at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is the dinner buffet at
Boma.)
Hope this helps! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more
questions!
