Love the panel Erin! What are the "can't miss" resorts decorated for Christmas? We'll be in the World the week of Thanksgiving and want to make sure we make the rounds to see all of the great decorations! Thank you so much!

    Hi Mary,

I was at WDW last Thanksgiving and will be there again this year as well. My family had a great time exploring the decorations at the various resorts. While every resort has some special decorations for the holidays, the more elaborate displays are at the deluxe resorts.

The showcase resort during the holidays is the Grand Floridian. Not only do they have a spectacular tree that reaches to the ceiling of the great foyer, there is, of course the life-size gingerbread house. My favorite part of the gingerbread house experience can be experienced from the second floor of the hotel. If you stand just above the house, you will notice every few minutes a puff of ginger-scented "smoke" will arise from the chimney. Enchanting! There is also a PhotoPass photographer stationed by the tree at the Floridian in the evenings. We ended up with some lovely family photos after Thanksgiving dinner.

If you're at the Floridian, you'll want to take the monorail around to the the Contemporary, which often has an edible scene from a Disney film, and to the Polynesian with it's tropical displays.

Another wonderful creation is at the Beach Club hotel, which has a carousel made of gingerbread that really moves. The trees at the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge have wonderful themed decorations that coordinate with their surroundings.

I have to say that even with all those wonderful sights, my favorite holiday displays are at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. There are many guests there that actually live at the Campgrounds for several months at a time. This long-term residents decorate their sites with lights and holiday banners. I love this personal twist on Disney decorations. If you have the time, it's fun to take a stroll through the campgrounds one evening.
