Hello, Carrie! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I was in a similar situation for my daughter’s birthday visit to
Walt Disney World Resort: she wanted us to enjoy some mother/ daughter time during the
Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room in
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. I’m a vegan and my daughter is vegetarian, so we were also concerned about the food options that would be available. After hearing reviews from other vegan and vegetarian friends, we decided to book the experience and talk to the chef when we got there. Depending on your dietary needs, though, I would encourage you to reach out to the
Special Diets team to see what accommodations could be made for you. Walt Disney World Resort chefs want to make sure each Guest has an enjoyable dining experience, and they’re happy to help whenever they can.
I sincerely hope it works out for you and your mother-in-law, Carrie. The atmosphere in the Garden View Tea Room is amazing, as is the entire lobby area at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Depending on the time of your visit (tea is served daily from noon until 4 p.m.), you may be able to catch a performance of
Disney’s Grand Floridian Society Orchestra in the lobby as well!
Enjoy your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort, Carrie, and please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you plan!
Amy
