Hi! Love you guys (and girls)! We have made a res. for Hollywood Brown Derby + Fantasmic & I'm wondering if our kids (9 & 6) will enjoy that restaurant or if we should try to get Hollywood & Vine or Mama Melrose instead? We're going on 3/25. Th

Hi! I am vacationing at WDW right now. We did the Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood and Vine last night. The meal was fine, but it was standard Disney buffet food, nothing really out of the ordinary. We all (including my kids ages 8 and 11) liked the food just fine, but we didn't love love love it.

On the other hand, we ate lunch at the Brown Derby earlier in the week. All of us (including the kids) were amazed by our food. Even the hot dog they brought my fussy eater was particularly good. The Brown Derby is a bit fancier, and more expensive, than the other Disney Studios restaurants, but there is still a children's menu. They still give coloring pages to the kids. And the food is DELICIOUS! If your kids are OK with sitting still for an hour long meal, then you all are likely to be very satisfied here.

Mama Melrose is probably a compromise position between these two -- not as generic buffet as Hollywood and Vine, and not as gourmet as the Brown Derby.

If you would like to check out the menus for these restaurants, you could go to allearsnet.com. Click the search button (near the top right) and type in the name of the restaurant you are interested in. The chefs do tinker with their offerings from time to time, but you will get a good overview of the situation here.
