Love all the advice I have read on the panel- here's my? 2011 trip with 5 and 3 yr olds. Hope for Chef Mickey and Crystal Pal. Also want a show on last day-do you suggest MBBQ or HDDR? Why? Read some bad rev of BBQ? last time for char? HDD to old for them

    Hi Allison,

Luv your name! Everyone has their favorite between MBYBBQ & HDDR & you can't go wrong with either. Both are great & I wholeheartedly suggest that you do both at some point. But for your kids' ages, I would vote for MBYBBQ.

The food is awesome, there is a LOT of it & its all you can eat. There is something for everyone including hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, mac & cheese, cole slaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread, tossed salad & potato salad. Drinks include tea, water, lemonade, beer & wine. Desserts were Mickey's Ice Cream Ear Bars, frozen fruit bars & the swirly pops.

The entertainment is a lot of fun for the whole family including a live band & a rope demonstration. The pavillion is big & there is a lot of room to move around which makes it easier when dining with kids. The highlight is dancing with the characters - unless your kids are afraid of them (some are at those ages). I loved that they were all dressed in their best western wear. This is a great place for your kids to burn off some energy, cut loose, have fun & just be a kid.

A quick tip about MBYBBQ - when the characters 1st come out - every kid rushes up to them at the same time - that is followed by their parents trying to get pictures - a little chaotic - but it calms down after a few minutes. In addition to the main dance floor, there are 2 little ones on the sides. Also keep your eye to the area just outside of the pavillion (Stage Left). During breaks the characters will often go there for photo ops for kids.

On your next trip, take your kids to HDDR - they will have a great time but I'd take advantage of your window of opportunity watching the magic as your kids interact with the characters at MBYBBQ on this trip. Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
