Hi Jennifer!
I am so sorry that you will be unable to make your planned trip to the
Walt Disney World Resort this summer. We have several planDisney Panelists who live in Canada and I cannot wait for the borders to open and to see them again! The past year has been challenging, and a little magic is something everyone could use right now.
Disney-imposed change and cancellation
fees for most types of bookings have been waived until April 31, 2021. While I don’t know the specifics of your booking, I am hopeful that this would apply to you. If you plan to cancel or reschedule, I would do it soon to take advantage of this offer. You could also wait a few more days to see if this offer is extended to give you more time to make a decision.
If a
Disney Resort Collection Hotel has not reopened in time for a Guest’s booking, they have been moved at Disney’s cost, to a similar or higher level resort. If you plan to rebook your resort for a later date, price protection for your stay may or may not be offered depending on the circumstances. It would not usually mean moving to a higher-cost resort at the same price, but you could be offered an alternate resort at a similar price point. For example, if you were originally booked at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort which has not reopened, you may be offered to book at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Jennifer, you should call and speak directly to a booking agent to check the specifics of your situation and reservations, and if something like this would be possible. Different policies may be in place for Guests who choose not to travel versus Guests who are unable to travel due to closed international borders. I am a firm believer that a polite ask is never a bad thing, and so I would inquire about the possibility of rescheduling with price protection for your resort stay, but be prepared that it may not be possible.
Sending you pixie dust Jennifer, that you can travel to the Walt Disney World Resort very soon!
