Hi Lisa!
Welcome to planDisney! We were able to visit the
Walt Disney World Resort this fall, and it sounds like we did something similar with remote working. We have four children and all four were logging into classes and participating remotely from Disney. It worked out very well for us, and I am so glad we took the trip. We all needed a boost of magic before we headed into the long winter here in Indiana.
You are correct that renovated rooms at
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa have had the desk removed. Before Covid-19, desks were a rarely used item, and removing them opened up more space for other pieces of the renovation. I called Resort Guest Services for you, to try to get a more definitive answer to your question. At this time, almost all the rooms in the Preferred Category have been renovated. There are still many Standard Category rooms in the resort that have not been renovated, so my recommendation would be to request a non-renovated room if the desk is essential to you.
Guest Services recommends that you call and add a request to your reservation that you would like a non-renovated room, or that you would like a desk if possible. It is emphasized that this would be a request only, and would not be guaranteed. It would likely be up to maintenance to determine if it would be safe or possible to add a desk to a renovated room. I would also recommend a back-up plan in case you do not see a desk in your room. If you have booked a 1 Bedroom or larger, both the dining table and the bar area in the kitchen might work for your needs. If you have booked a Deluxe Studio, perhaps a portable lap desk for your computer might be useful. You could also consider taking your work to the main building at where you’ll find tables and seating areas and where you may find a spot that works better for your needs.
I hope you have a fun and productive working trip, Lisa!
