Hey there, Sheri!
Thank you for reaching out to planDisney with your question. It's almost vacation time, and I can imagine the anticipation is building as you prepare for your voyage with
Disney Cruise Line.
I'm sure you are looking forward to visiting Disney's new tropical destination,
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, on your sailing. A splashtacular Bahamian beach day awaits you when the ship docks. The water is the most gorgeous shade of turquoise, and the super-soft sand has a pink tint! The pictures don't do it justice, so I can't wait for you to see it for yourself!
Snorkeling can be enjoyed in the Serenity Bay area, adjacent to the Family Beach. The entire beach area is open waters, which is different than the protective barrier at
Castaway Cay, so you never know what you may see in this environment. You'll just want to stay within the white buoys. And since the Family Beach is so close, you can check out both areas. A few things to note: you'll want to stop by Flippers and Fins to rent snorkel gear before heading to the beach area. If you're bringing along your own gear, you can stop by to pick up a complimentary vest. They are also there to answer any questions you may have, including their recommendations on where you may want to explore.
Sheri, be sure to have your phone charged for all the beautiful photo opportunities around the island. It has such a unique feel with the authentic touches Disney has made sure to include. Before heading back to the ship, plan a visit to the Goombay Cultural Center, which showcases not only magnificent Bahamian art but also the island's rich past and traditions.
Have a magical time, Sheri!
Nancy
