Hi there, and welcome to planDisney. There’s nothing better than visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth with family, so let’s make sure you have enough room for everyone! I often book lodging with multiple bedrooms for my large extended family, so I’d be happy to talk through your options.
As
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members, my family stays at the
Deluxe Villa Resort hotels the most, which have both 2 Bedroom and 1 Bedroom Villas. Even if you’re not a DVC member, anyone can book these villas on the
Disney World website. This is a great option if you need both room types for your party at the same resort. The exact sleep spaces vary by resort, but typically the 2 Bedroom Villas have a bedroom with a King-sized Bed, a second bedroom with two Queen-sized Beds, and a living room with a Double or Queen-sized sofa bed. Typically the 1 Bedroom Villas have a bedroom with a King-sized Bed and a living room with a Double or Queen-sized sofa bed. At some resorts, like the
Grand Floridian Villas and
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village, the living room even has a second pull-down bed or sleeper chair. If you'd like to see what bed types are in each resort hotel's rooms, search for the resort hotel's name on the Disney World website. On their page, click Room Rates. Under each room type, you'll see a list of the beds and sizes.
There are also some resorts, like the
Contemporary, that have 2 Bedroom and 1 Bedroom Suites. But my family prefers the Deluxe Villas since they have a full kitchen, washer, and dryer, which is really convenient when you have a little one in tow!
Other 1 Bedroom options include the more affordable Family Suites at
Art of Animation and
All-Star Movies, and the
Cabins at Fort Wilderness. The Family Suites have a bedroom with a Queen-sized bed and a living room with a Double-sized Murphy bed, a Double-sized sofa bed, and a kitchenette. The Art of Animation’s Family Suites are really fun with their Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo-themed rooms. And it’s conveniently located on the
Skyliner, making it easy to get to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
Now, for a unique 1 Bedroom option, definitely check out the Cabins at Fort Wilderness! These freestanding cabins have a bedroom with a Queen-sized bed and bunk bed, and a living room with a pull-down Queen or Double-sized bed. They also have a full kitchen and a patio with a picnic table. Fort Wilderness is just a short
boat ride away from Magic Kingdom, but my family always finds it hard to leave because there’s so much to do right at the campground, from
horseback riding to a
campfire sing-a-long with Chip 'n' Dale!
I hope this gives you some ideas for the practically perfect room for your family! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
