We are looking at traveling to Disney World for this upcoming New Years Eve, a little less than 1 year away. We will have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and possibly a 3 month old baby. Any tips from people? We've been countless times but never New Years.

    Hi Maura,

I was at the Walt Disney World Resorts two years ago for New Years Eve. It was one of my wishes to be at the Magic Kingdom when the clock struck midnight. Let me tell you it was fun but with 74, 999 other people it was tough to get home.

It will be busy in the parks on this day. You may even need to be in the park by about 4:00 pm to make sure you are admitted before the parks reach capacity. Come 10:00 pm at the Magic Kingdom,  you can only go on Main Street to leave. We ended up watching the fireworks from Frontierland which was empty and we still had a great view of the fireworks. Leaving afterwards was tough as everyone was making their way to the boats, buses and monorails. We even lingered in the shops before going home.

I know people who love EPCOT for New Years Eve. They love the show and the space that EPCOT has.

My girls were 10 and 12 when we went and that was about the right age to have them stay up and do all the New Year Eve events for our family. Plus with them being in school, it limits the days we can go to the park.

If I had two children the ages of yours, I think I might pass on New Years Eve until they were older to avoid the crowds exiting at midnight unless I stayed at a resort which was walking distance to the park I was in and stroll home.

    Have a magical vacation!
