Looking for suggestion for dinner for the first night of our stay. Staying at ASSR and arriving around 3. My sons first trip ages 4&7. No preference of character dining or not, we can always do that later in our trip. We'll be there for 8 days.

    Hi there, Missy!

A great way to start your vacation off with a YEE-HAW! is a meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe in Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

It's a perfect first-night meal: family-style (low pressure on the menu), totally kid-friendly, and wonderfully enthusiastic. Your children, who will likely be over the moon with excitement, can run around the room in stick-horse racing challenges, hoot and holler with their fellow diners, and, often, sing some of their favorite cowboy tunes.

The Skillet meal is delicious, and offers something for everyone: brisket, pork, chicken and sides (items subject to change without notice). Of course, there is an a la carte menu and a special menu just for children under 10.

Consider T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe, both of which are located in Downtown Disney. These two restaurants immerse diners in specific environments: dinosaur days and the jungle! Sweeping scenery, animatronics, and ambient noises set the mood. Watch for the meteor shower in T-Rex and the thunderstorm in the Rainforest Cafe!

After dinner, let the little ones burn off some energy by letting them walk around the Marketplace. There's bound to be some live entertainment, special surprises, and fun to be had.

To make your reservations at T-Rex, call (407) 828-TREX (8739); for the Rainforest Cafe, (407) 827-6500.

Whispering Canyon Cafe reservations can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE starting 180 days before your stay begins.

Have a great meal - and a great trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
