Hi Linda! Welcome to planDisney.
Oh my goodness! What a fantastic start to the new year you have planned! I'm so excited for you! A little magic at Walt Disney World, followed by a cruise, sounds like a pixie-dusted adventure! To get us in the mood for your answer, let's do a countdown: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Let's get you all set for a Happy New Year!
Linda, a few years ago, I brought my mother-in-law to Walt Disney World, and we stayed at the Disney Dolphin. She, too, needed to use an Electric Conveyance Vehicle for our trip, so I'm happy to share with you from experience how we arranged this for her.
You can rent an ECV scooter at the front of each theme park on a first-come, first-served basis. The process for renting these devices is very easy; however, these scooters must remain within the park and cannot be taken off property. Since my mother-in-law needed a mobility device outside the theme parks as well, we decided to rent her ECV from ScooterBug, a Disney-featured provider. We pre-ordered the mobility device for the dates we needed, and it was delivered directly to the Disney Dolphin hotel. The process was very easy. When it was time to check out of our hotel, we returned the ECV to Bell Services, and ScooterBug picked it up from them. I'm adding a link
HERE from the Disney website that will provide you with all this information.
I'm also happy to let you know that her ECV easily transferred onto the
FriendShip Boat to
Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT. You should have no issues getting from your hotel to either of these theme parks!
I hope this information gets you all set for your magical journey. I visited Walt Disney World myself last year on New Year's Day, and it is a wonderful time to visit. The weather was pleasant, and everything still sparkled with Christmas decor. I hope you'll have the most amazing time!
Please don't hesitate to
reach out to us again if we can assist you further. You are always welcome!
Happy planning,
Shonette
