Hi Amanda, welcome back! Many guests who sail with Disney will choose to head out on a Port Adventure in each port. With
Disney Cruise Line's Port Adventures, the meeting locations are on the ship, so they meet their group and head out together. However, other guests prefer to just explore the port on their own, and that is a lot of fun too!
If you don't feel up to taking a taxi to head too far from the port area, don't worry. There is so much to explore right off the ship in the Western Caribbean ports. In Cozumel, you'll find a large two-story shopping area with all sorts of souvenirs, local delicacies, restaurants and more. There are also activities to participate in nearby too. My kids love when we hire the pedicab to drive us up or down the long, long dock in Cozumel. A man pedals a bike that pulls a cart behind with seats and a canopy. This is a highlight for my kids. Last time I was there, there wasn't a set charge, just tips only, so we tipped very well for this fun ride!
Grand Cayman offers a smaller shopping area right in the port area, but there are lots of other really nice shops and restaurants just across the street in this town. Plus, beaches are just a bus or cab ride away. Keep in mind that the ship does not dock in Grand Cayman, so you'll have to take a tender boat from the Fantasy as it anchors out in the water, to get to the port. Just keep that in mind as you plan your day, as it does add extra travel time.
Falmouth, Jamaica offers similar shopping indoors and outdoors from local vendors when you port there. For any of the ports, bring cash as though many shops and restaurants will accept major credit cards, some of the smaller ones and local vendors may only accept cash. Usually they are happy to accept U.S. dollars.
I hope those details help, Amanda! Stop back again if you have other questions! I'm happy to help!
