Hi Pam!
I’m so glad you stopped by planDisney. Planning a
Walt Disney World vacation is so exciting, but I completely get being worried about the “what-ifs.” Life happens, and it’s smart to have a backup plan just in case.
A couple of years ago, my dad got sick while I was traveling, and since then, I always make sure to plan for emergencies. You’ve saved, planned, and dreamed about going to The Most Magical Place on Earth, so why leave anything to chance?
You may want to consider adding a
Travel Protection Plan to your vacation. Think of travel insurance as your safety net for those unexpected moments, such as delays, cancellations, or even medical issues. The easiest time to add it is when you book your vacation, but you can also add it anytime before your final payment (usually 31 days before arrival). Just don’t wait until your trip is paid off—you won’t be able to add it after that. You can visit the Walt Disney World website for
directions on how to purchase it. If you’re looking for even more coverage options, you might want to check out third-party insurance plans. A travel agent can help you compare and pick the best one for your family.
What happens if you need to cancel and you don't have travel insurance? Here’s how Disney’s cancellation policy works:
• More than 30 days before arrival: You’ll get a full refund.
• 3–29 days before arrival: There’s a $200 cancellation fee.
• 2 days or less before arrival: Unfortunately, you won’t get a refund as the cancellation fee is 100% of the package price.
Pam, I hope this helps you feel more prepared and confident about your planning! Fingers crossed you won’t need to use the insurance at all, but it’s always better to have it, just in case. If you have any more questions—whether it’s about travel protection or planning your Disney trip—don’t hesitate to stop by again.
Wishing you a magical vacation filled with peace of mind and pixie dust!
All the best,
Eean
