We are looking at October 8-16, 2012 for our first Disney trip. Kids will be 7, and almost 5. We will also be meeting my parents there, so we have 3 generations. What are the best value and mod resorts? Is Dining plan worth the cost? Hopper or base?

    Hi Adrien!

Congratulations on your first trip to Walt Disney World! It is so wonderful that you get to experience Walt Disney World (WDW) with both your parents and children, WDW is truly for people of all ages.

Since you are visiting in October, Disney's new Art of Animation (AOA) resort will be open and is booking family suites for that timeframe now! This brand new resort is going to be gorgeous. The theming is amazing, with Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King rooms. There will be three pools, the largest in the Finding Nemo section, courtyards, playgrounds and more. The best part....this is actually a value resort!

The family suite is large enough to accommodate six guests and is nice and roomy. This is my vote for the best value resort right now.

As far as the moderate resorts, Port Orleans - Riverside is opening new Royal Guest Rooms, which are decorated with a Princess and the Frog theme, fiber optics fireworks shooting over the headboard and princess treasures displayed throughout the room.

I definitely thinking the Disney Dining Plan is worth every penny. We buy it every time we visit - it saves money, time and stress. Depending on how many days you visit, you may decide adding the park hopper works for you. If you are spending only 3-5 days at WDW, I would invest in the park hopper so you can experience all of the parks.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else!

    Magically,
    Stacy
