We are looking to do a 18 night trip in 2026. My son has ASD and would need a room with a bit more space and a kitchen. I can't seem to see any villa's or fort wilderness lodges online. Does that mean you these are reserved for DVC?

Hiya, Laura! I'm happy to welcome you back to planDisney! It sounds like you're diving into the exciting process of trying to find the perfect Disney Resort for your family. Don't worry, you've got a friend in me!

Walt Disney World offers a variety of room types across its many resorts. Let's explore the various choices so you can find the perfect fit for your family.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness offer two different options: The One-Bedroom Cabins and the Wilderness Cabins. The One-Bedroom Cabin features a queen bed, a queen-size pull-down bed, and a bunk bed. It also includes a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy seating area, and a patio deck. The Wilderness Cabin features a queen bed, a double-size sleeper sofa, and a bunk bed, along with a kitchen that has 2 counter-top burners, a fridge and microwave, plus a patio. Both of these cabins accommodate up to 6 Guests and have one bathroom. The main difference is the One-Bedroom Cabins come with a fully equipped kitchen.

If you choose to stay at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness, you'll enjoy the added convenience of taking the water taxi directly to Magic Kingdom!

Alternatively, there are several other villa options at Walt Disney World that feature fully equipped kitchens. If you're looking to stay on the Monorail loop for easy access to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, the Grand Floridian and Bay Lake Tower are excellent choices. For a location close to Disney Springs, I'd recommend Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. Animal Kingdom Lodge offers a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek are great options with convenient water taxi service to Magic Kingdom. If you want easy access to EPCOT, Beach Club and Boardwalk are fantastic choices. Disney's Riviera Resort is located right on the Skyliner, offering a unique way to travel to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

Alright, Laura, now comes the fun part! You get to explore all these exciting Resort options and choose the one that's perfect for your family vacation! I'm so excited for you —  planning a trip is part of the fun! If you have any questions as you continue your planning journey, please visit us again at planDisney. Happy Planning!
