Welcome to planDisney, Steven! Thank you so much for sending in your question. I recently celebrated a big birthday at Walt Disney World Resort, so I have some ideas for you. I always say, "Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live!"
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is Walt Disney World's flagship property, so it's the perfect place to commemorate your special day! I recommend starting your evening with a specialty cocktail at the Beauty and the Beast-themed
Enchanted Rose Lounge (no reservations are needed). The Lavender Fog, made with English Breakfast Tea, is my favorite. For dinner, I suggest
Cítricos, which received a refresh last year. Here you'll see subtle Mary Poppins touches, including her carpet bag and parrot-topped umbrella. The entrees here are excellent, especially the Golden Tilefish. The fireworks views are obscured, however, so if you prefer a location from where you can watch
Disney Enchantment, then
Narcoossee's is your best bet. This restaurant is currently undergoing a refurbishment, but Disney says it will return sometime next year with an enhanced experience. Both are popular dining spots, so you'll want to book them online through the Walt Disney World website exactly 60 days ahead of time.
You can also watch the fireworks from the Grand Floridian marina, but for the ultimate finale, charter a
private fireworks cruise from the resort, which will take you on the waters of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Your captain will pack some light snacks and play the fireworks audio through the boat's speakers. The 25-foot pontoon boats seat up to 10 guests. My UK-based friend,
Jane, booked the luxurious Grand 1 Yacht for her birthday voyage, and she will attest that it was a fantastic experience! Call 0800 028 0778 (UK) or 1800 812 678 (Ireland) 60 days in advance to reserve a cruise.
Mickey and I hope you have the most magical 60th birthday, Steven! See ya real soon!
