Hello Donna!
Welcome to planDisney! As a family of 6 who often travels with extended family and friends, we are used to visiting as a large group. Vacations to the Walt Disney World with friends are always more magical!
Donna, you can book multiple rooms, and there are a few ways to go about it. First, know that even when you book multiple rooms, each booking is considered separate and will have a different reservation number. This is different than some other hotels you may be used to. If you are trying to
book online, and finding you can’t add a second room, this is why. You will need to book the first room completely and get a reservation number, and then book the second room and get a second reservation number. If you would like to request connecting rooms you will need to
call to do this. You can either make the reservations online first and then call to make the request, or you can make both reservations over the phone and have the request made at that time. Please know that connecting rooms are always a request but not a booking category or guarantee. Cast Members will do their best, but you won’t know until arrival if your request has been granted or not. Priority is given to larger families that need to book one adult in each room with multiple children split between the two rooms.
Another option for a large group, Donna, would be a
Disney Deluxe Villa. While these are traditionally part of
Disney Vacation Club, they are available for
booking by the public. A 2 Bedroom Villa sleeps 8 to 9 depending on the resort, has at least two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a washer and dryer. This can be a great option for larger families with plenty of space to spread out, and offers many of the comforts of home during your vacation!
You may also wish to consider the
Family Suites which are available at both Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. Family Suites sleep up to 6 and have two bathrooms as well as a kitchenette. If you are needing two rooms because you have a larger family like me, Family Suites can be a great option and more affordable than two separate rooms.
I hope this helps to answer your question, Donna! If you have additional planning questions, feel free to send them our way. We love talking Disney and are here to help!
